State Street Global Advisors Launch Three New ETFs

State Street Global Advisors today announced the launch of three new Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). The three new ETFs specifically target the Biotech, Semiconductor, and Homebuilder industries.
Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) have been gaining popularity with both investors and advisors as they allow for more liquidity than traditional open-end mutual funds. Wheras open-end funds can only be bought and sold at the end of trading each day, ETFs trade intra-day like a stock on an Exchange so investors can react more rapidly to news affecting their holdings. These particular ETFs will trade on the American Stock Exchange which pioneered ETFs back in 1993. Another reason for ETF popularity is the ability to specifically target certain industries or market segments. Although there are sector oriented open-end mutual funds, there are currently more sector oriented ETFs being introduced. State Street Global Advisors is the second largest domestic and global provider of ETFs. ETFs like most investments contain risk, so investors should always consult with their Advisors and read the prospectus before making any investment.
