You basically buy a discount certificate up front and then redeem your savings when you go the restaurant. Most of the savings are for a set dollar amount, for example, you may buy a $25 dining certificate for only $10. Restaurant.com guarantees that the certificate will be accepted by the restaurant.
Although it is a bit of a hassle to have to go online and look for savings, this is offset by the fact that the participating restaurants tend to lean toward the nicer establishments and different restaurants may be offering different "deals" depending on the season.
