Intuit Teams Up With Kiplinger
Intuit (INTU), the Mountain View California based maker of the hugely popular TurboTax, Quickbooks, and Quicken software titles announced this month a new collaboration with The Kiplinger Washington Editors, Inc.
Specifically, Intuit and Kiplinger will integrate Kiplinger's tax content into Intuit's TurboTax products and Web Site. Kiplinger is best known for their Kiplinger Personal Finance Magazine and their Kiplinger Letters. Kiplinger has been around since 1920 and their Kiplinger Letter is the longest continually published financial newsletter in the United States. In 1925 they launched The Kiplinger Tax Letter, laying the foundation and reputation for translating complicated tax issues into practical, easy-to-understand advice for consumers.
The Intuit - Kiplinger collaboration is a major vote of confidence for TurboTax and a setback for the nation's #2 tax software provider, H & R Block. Kiplinger actually ended an 11 year relationship with H & R Block's TaxCut to work exclusively with Intuit's TurboTax, further solidifying TurboTax as the nation's #1 tax software product.
In addition to being available in the TurboTax software, Kiplinger's tax content will be disseminated through online videos and podcasts. This seems to be a part of Intuit's strategy to integrate the internet with their products and services. You may recall, back in September of this year we reported on Intuit integrating Google's Search and Advertising solutions into the Quickbook's platform. And on November 30th of this year, Intuit announced the acquisition of Digital Insight, Inc., a leading provider of online banking services. It is starting to appear that if you are doing anything online in regards to Personal Finance, Intuit is likely in the picture somewhere.
